AR Rahman is one of the most sought-after musicians in India. Not only has he won over the audience with his surreal and soulful music, but he has also been awarded for his hard work. From Oscars to National awards, he has made the country proud. Recently, he received a trophy for some of his brilliant soundtracks from the movies Ponniyin Selvan I, Venthu Thanindhathu Kaadu, and Cobra. He attended the Ananda Vikatan Cinema awards show in Chennai with his wife Saira Banu.

The couple was called on stage to collect the award, when Rahman expressed that he doesn’t like watching his interviews again. However, he went on to add that his wife keeps playing them again and again as she really likes his voice. The host proceeds to ask Banu to say something, before she could talk, the musician interjects and says, “Don’t talk in Hindi, speak in Tamil.” ALSO READ: SHOCKING! Quoted by DNA, she apologises for not speaking fluent Tamil and proceeds to heap praises on her husband’s voice in English. She says, “Oh my God. Good evening everyone. Sorry, I can't speak fluently in Tamil. So, please excuse me. I am super, super happy, and excited because his voice is my favourite. I fell in love with his voice. That's all I can say.”

Well it is safe to say that once the video started doing rounds on social media, it has left the internet divided. While many fans came in support of AR Rahman for encouraging his wife to talk in Tamil, a section of netizens have lashed out at him for forcing her. For the unversed, AR Rahman and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1995 and are proud parents of three kids Khatija Rahman, Rahima Rahman, and AR Ameen.
